SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW THE MOUNTAIN?

TO MY FIVE DIAMONDS: TRINITY, PARIS, CAMERON, KAITLYN, AND ASHTON

They might have told you I’m a “crazy old man” or a “grumpy grandfather,” but I’m here to tell you the truth: I am a Cartouche. I am an original.

I’m 70 years old, and I can still kick and stretch. I’ve lived fifteen lives and seen things that would blow your mind. I’ve stood on top of the Old Man of the Mountain, run steam engines in the White Mountains, and managed the most exclusive dirt in Malibu. I’ve healed eagles and raised bobcats. I’ve survived the “gauntlet” of a 55-year gaslight and a 10-year battle with cancer, and I’m still standing tall.

I want you to know who your grandfather really is. I’m not a “crayon” drawing; I’m a high-def map of grit and persistence. I carry the word “Happy” on my arm because my friend Mickey showed me that no matter what the world takes from you, they can’t take your spirit.

I’m building this website, The Era of the Scarab Cartouche, as a “Black Box” for you. Everything I’ve ever seen, every record I’ve ever kept, and every lesson I’ve ever learned is going in here. It’s my inheritance to you—the truth of where you come from.

If you ever want to know the real story, just look for the Scarab. I’m right here, I’m “Relentless”

  • The Florida bobcat (Lynx rufus floridanus) is a native, medium-sized predator found statewide in forests, swamps, and suburban areas. About twice the size of a housecat, they are identified by their short "bobbed" tail, spotted reddish-brown coat, and tufted ears.
