PRWC: Dedicated to Wildlife Rehabilitation and ConservationFrom 1990 to 1999, we poured our hearts into the development, fundraising, and daily operations of the Peace River Wildlife Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. What began as a deep personal commitment to wildlife conservation evolved into managing a crucial community sanctuary, ensuring that injured, orphaned, and displaced native wildlife received an elite level of care and rehabilitation.Our decade of service was defined by hard work, community action, and deep operational responsibility:
- The Foundation Years : Dedicated 5 years of intense volunteer service focused entirely on facility development, habitat construction, and building up the physical footprint of the center.
- The Fundraising Engine: Led major community fundraising initiatives, establishing strong partnerships with regional first responder organizations, including the Sarasota, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, and Port St. Lucie Fraternal Order of Police and Firefighters to secure critical operational funding.
- The Operational Leadership (1995–1999): Stepped into the role of Co-Manager with Cheryl for 4 years, directing all daily facility operations, managing volunteer teams, and overseeing the hands-on medical rehabilitation of native species—where eagles were healed and bobcats were raised.
